Familia,

Wow... Haha a long week. Good but long. This week we´ve just been looking, teaching and doing regular missionary stuff. We´ve hit a wall and we just need to climb over it but it´s taking longer than it should or being stubborn. Not sure but we´ve been having a long week.

One of the reasons is that we can´t contact Rosana. We call, try to swing by their house, go to the park when they´d be there and nothing. She´s super awesome but she´s seems to have escaped! NOOOOO. The other missionaries here taught her almost every day, they took the missionaries to the zoo and they were coming to all of the meetings and activities. So they were basically members but then they went on vacation, stopped reading and we lost contact. Oh well when she´s ready we´ll find her. Her and her husband have been together for a while, married four years and have a little blonde two year old boy. Awesome but we´ve lost contact.

However we´ve had some good things happen this week. We found this lady name Amada from Ecuador. She´s a younger lady that owns a clothing store, married with one devil of a child. Amada´s super cool and genuinely interested in what we have to share. So we put a date with her and are hoping for the best. :) We have some other perspective investigators but none of them are progressing like we´d like them to. So this coming up week we´ll be on the look out again.

The other elders are doing really well. They´re on an island called Lanzarote. One´s from Washington and he´s training a missionary from Sandy who lives in Elder Regehr´s stake. So like Jake and I! As a District Leader I call them every Sunday to get their numbers, see how they are and if there´s anything I can do for them. Then everyWednesday we have District Meeting over Skype (actually this thing kinda like skype but not exactly) and other than that we only do intercambios once a transfer. So in about two weeks I´ll be headed over to Lanzarote for a few days to see how they´re doing and then I´ll come back. The elder from Washington´s name is Elder Brownell he´s one transfer ahead of me, a nice and good missionary. Then the other elder is Elder Peterson. He played soccer so he know´s like Billy Affleck, Aaron Wooden, and Wid Covey and all of those guys. Super nice guy but the poor man´s having a tough time with spanish. He´s determined so he´ll pick it up in a little but right now it´s really hard for him.

Count your blessings people. Spanish is easy but hard! Haha not anymore luckily! The gift of tongues is super real. We´ve really noticed that reciently. We´ve been talking to Africans, Spaniards, Latinos, Germans, British people and we have found a way to communicate with all of them. Thanks to English and Spanish! I just need to learn German and French and I´ll be good! :)

Well we´re super excited for conference this weekend and if everything goes well we´ll get to see three sessions and then on next Monday we´ll make up the other two. We´re really praying that we´ll recieve some answers to questions we have. It really is such a blessing to have a living prophet! There´s a really cool quote in the Relief Society room at church that says, "We prefer a living prophet to a dead one." Really strong but I love that thought. We´ve been meeting a lot with people of other religions and all they do is whip out the Bible and all of the teachings of old prophets with their teachings for their times. It´s really built up my testimony of how important President Thomas S. Monson is! He´s such a stud! (excuse my informality) but he really is. All of these other people we talk to are just people trusting on their own knowledge and are by themselves while we have a prophet of the Lord. A man who literally talks with the Lord and receives what he needs to tell us and then tells us. Awesome.

I love you all so much and keep praying for this little slice of Africa!

Love,
Elder Hawks
