Hola family,
Well this week has been a good one. We were able to reach our goal of member with lessons and that was a huge faith builder just to be able to see that we are able to reach it! We did exchanges with the missionaries in Lugo and I went there to be with a missionary from Manchester England so we just talked about "football" the whole time and how they could help the area. He's a fresh missionary named Elder Kirby and super awesome. I almost talked him into to coming to study at Utah and then playing soccer with me for UVU. That was Wednesday to Thursday and as you all hopefully know last Thursday was a holiday that I like to call "Half Christmas" so we celebrated it by singing Christmas songs and by doing a special half Christmas family home evening for the branch. It was so fun.
not just because we planned it or because there were lights and stuff but because people came and participated.
I was a little worried about the worthiness of my companion but after talking it out things were figured out and we were able to improve the companionship. If you're going to fast for me just fast that I can finish off the mission strong and that we are able to see some miracles here. I'm having a lot of fun and we're doing work it's just been a while since we've seen real success here. Sooooo just keep me motivated!
Ok number 7
#7 FAITH, trusting in the Lord, yourself and then others.
So one of the huge things that I've learned while on the mission is the principle of faith. Faith is power. I have seen people that straight up say no to the job they've had for over a decade due to their faith in the sabbath day and their trust in the Lord and I've also seen mainly people who shake and lose the faith because they have to work Sundays and they can't go to church. We are who we want to be.
So we need to have faith in the Lord that he knows what he is doing. Then we need to have faith in ourselves that we are living in accordance with how the Lord would want us to be living. Doing all of the little and big things that he's expecting us to do. Go to church, read the scriptures, pray, go to the temple, and be joyful about it. It is the first principle in the gospel of Jesus Christ because we need to have the feeling that we need to do these things or that we want to do these things and come closer into the Lord. We choose to believe.
I know that the Savior and Redeemer of the world lives and that he guides his church. We need to trust in him and in ourselves that we are doing what he has told us to do and trust in others and how he has inspired them to help and bless us. It's by taking that step in the dark so that we can see the light. Be bold and trust in the Lord he has trusted us to be his representatives here in the earth. He trust's us immensely. We need to not be scared to open our mouths and say what needs to be said and to act and live our lives in a way that he will be pleased. Think about the way you are living your life and make the changes that need to made.
I love you all and am very grateful for you examples and for what you've done to help me out here.
Love,
Elder Hawks
P.s. Mom if you stay updated on Hermana Jackson's Instagram and Facebook she's going to announce when their homecoming is.
P.p.s. This is what Pres. Jackson said to me in his last letter. "I am going to miss reading your weekly letters and scriptures at the end. Thank you for your terrific service, example and obedience. I felt I could always count on you to do your best. God bless you going forward. We are friends forever in this work!"
