Monday: P-day. We actually didn´t do much. Everything was closed so we took a good amount of time writing and doing all of the usual p-day stuff. Nothing too exciting. We met a less active guy we´ve been trying to meet this whole transfer so that was really good. Then we went over and taught Mara that night. She´s soooo prepared. We´re slowly working with her mom so that she´ll listen a little more to us and hopefully let Mara get baptized and be interested enough to get baptized herself! We ate dinner with them and it was super delicious. Considering we were completely out of money and food... :) Haha tender mercies.
Tuesday: Ok now this was an interesting day. We got up early to go to El Concilio de Liderazgo or the Zone Leader Meeting at President Jackson´s house. So we hopped on a train and went out there. It was a super good meeting. We talked about the importance of Preach My Gospel and of Courage, or in other words, talking to absolutely everybody you physically can. We all chatted about that and how we could maybe motivate the missionaries to be bold and use Preach My Gospel daily. There were really good ideas passed around and we were all able to participate and share what we thought and felt should be said.
Also President started cracking down on some rules. He said that we need to look more like missionaries and not stylish spanish buisnessmen. Haha Elder Stevenson and I heard that, looked down at our suits and changed the second we got home. President Jackson is very inspired and he´s really looking out for us. Once we got back to our area late that night we immediately started applying what we talked about and it was amazing. I can feel the Spirit really guiding us and I don´t know but you can really just feel a difference. President said that he was talking to a missionary who was having problems because he felt like he wasn´t really successful because they had to take a bus to a little town 2 hours away almost everyday. Then President asked if he talked to anybody while he was on the bus and the missionary said no. Then President asked why not and the missionary said that he hadn´t seen anybody do that over the course of his mission and he´d been out on the mission for a really long time. So after President told us that story he asked us, "Are we talking to everybody? Are we doing everything we can to help everyone that we can?" That hit us hard. So that Tuesday night we began to apply that and speak to everyone and boy did we see the blessings.
Wednesday: We trained all of the other missionaries in our zone what President had told us and after we did little exchanges with the missionaries from Cuenca an area pretty far away from Madrid who are in our zone. I brought a missionary to our area and Elder Stevenson went to Cuenca. Yet again applying what we had learned and had beaten into us, we were able to see blessings. Elder Gomez, the elder I was with has no fear and he talked to everybody and we were whistling people down on the street to talk to them about the restored gospel. We got on a bus and started talking to people and we talked to the first lady we saw and she ended up being a member then everybody that sat down next to her we talked to and all three of us worked together. Haha awesome.
Thursday: We changed back. I sent Elder Gomez off on a bus to his area in the morning and then waited with two members here until Elder Stevenson got back later in the afternoon. Thursday we were busy teaching lessons and english class so another good day.
Friday: We decided to do an exchange with the other missionaries in our district because they´re really struggling with just being happy and so we decided to work with them all day and I went to their area and worked with one of them and yet again talked to everybody we could on the street and metro and everywhere. Afterwards when we were planning in piso I asked the missionary to tell me something he liked about how I work and something I need to improve on and I was going to do the same for him so that we both felt good and also found out what we needed to do to get better. I asked him that and he sat there thinking for a good moment. I let him think for about 5 minutes then he looked up at me and said that he couldn´t think of anything. He gave me one of the best compliments I´ve received on my mission. He said that I was the kind of missionary that everybody wants to be... :o Holy cow that really hit me hard. I am soooooo grateful for the change that has taken place in me. This missionary and I went on exchanges at the begining of the mission together and to think of how much has changed since then is incredible.
Saturday: We changed back in the morning and Elder Stevenson and I planned for the next week then went to a delicious food appointment and then we had conference that night which was soooo good. We watched theSaturday Morning session live so at six o´clock our time down at Temple Square at the Stake Center there with all of the other missionaries in English and Mara came to that session and left thinking a lot about marrige... haha it was funny watching cause like all of the first session was about marrige and all of us are just kind of.... haha awkward missionaries. For a lot of us this was our last conference in the mission sooo that was weird.
Sunday: We spent the whole day down at the temple watching conference. We watched Priesthood, SaturdayAfternoon and Sunday Morning. Elder Stevenson downloaded Sunday Afternoon so we´re going to listen to it one of these days during our studies. The day was spent with members, missionaries and a lot of candy and good food. We didn´t bring any food so we trusted in the Lord and the awesome members and we received... :) Haha good day.
Resume: This week we didn´t have a lot of time to actaully do missionary work in our own area, together but it was still a really good week. A lot learned, we were humbled and then brought up stronger. Oh man I love the mission and I´m super excited to see what this next transfer brings. We could both go, stay or only one of us go. We´ve both been here a good amount of time and also been together for most of that sooo sólo el Señor sabe. I love you all soo much and I was thinking about how excited I am to be with you next conference and how the mission is absolutely awesome and I don´t want to waste a precious minute!
Love,
Elder Hawks
