Hello beloved family,
As you can see I got a new companion. I still haven't met him yet. He
get's here super late tonight so we'll see. I'm getting my first
native companion for my last six weeks. I'm a little nervous because
his trainer wasn't the most obedient trainer soooo we're just going to
be even extra obedient! However I'm excited to meet him and only speak
in Spanish for a month and a half... Haha my English isn't going to be
very good when I get back. Not that it's great now but... Worse I'd
imagine.
This week was nuts, a catholic missionary came
to church and wanted to bare his testimony during testimony meeting
and then we had transfers! Haha yay the mission! Oh and we went to a
cool American restaurant for the fourth and that was fun. I'll send
you some pictures!
Well with the loss of Elder Tree I'm really starting to realize how
much I love that elder. He is super humble, honest and obedient. He
was a great help for me and he helped me stay focused and remember who
I am. We need to stay focused on who we are and what the message is
that we share.
#6 the Book Of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ
I have gained such a strong testimony of the Book of Mormon on my
mission. That book has power and I can easily testify that it is the
word of God and that it is the keystone of our religion. Every less
active I've met has had a shaky testimony of the BOM, every strong
convert's testimony was based on the book and nothing else, and the
strongest active members I know are the ones who are regularly reading
and repeating the promise found in Moroni 10:3-5. I know that the book
is true and that due to that, Joseph Smith is a prophet and that this
is the church of Jesus Christ here on the earth.
There are many miracles in the very coming forth of the book and and
there are daily miracles due to the truthfulness of the book. I have
never ever been as amazed when I read the Book of Mormon as when I do
now. One hour of personal study slips away sooo fast for me. Today all
I did was read and think about how to apply what I had read to my
investigators. Dina, the girl that got baptized my last Saturday in
Barrio 2 is in Alma and is strongly considering serving a mission.
I was speechless when I heard that. THE BOOK IS TRUE.
"And to all of you that aren't reading the Book of Mormon, read it!"
Haha I invite all of you to follow the advice of our living prophet
Thomas S. Monson. I promise that if you do so with a sincere heart and
true intent you will receive an answer to the truth of ALL things.
I love you all so much and I'm so grateful for this time left that I
have to represent our Lord and Savior. Stay strong fam!
Love,
Elder Hawks
