March 10, 2014

Hola Mama!

Yes this week went by very fast and we have a pretty good week planned ahead of us. On Saturday we were able to go with Dora to the temple. I think Andrew´s one hundred percent right about that joining the church thing. Dora loved the temple and every time she talks about any event after the 15 she says, "after I´m baptized" This has been such a good change for us to have somebody ask all they need to do to be baptized and then DO IT! You could say I´m a very happy missionary. :)

However this week was very interesting. So on Friday we had splits with the other Elders here in Villalba. I went with Elder Shamsabadi and Elder Hendricks with our District Lord Elder Day. Elder Shamsabadi is a super nice kid from California. He´s a convert to the church as of two years and is always super excited to do the work. We had a pretty normal day until 5ish. When he said, "Ok we´re going to go meet with this muslim guy, he´s going to gives us a QurĂ¡n, and we´re going to give him an Arabic Book of Mormon. So we met him at the church and for about an hour and a half this guy, Ahmed, taught us (from the Bible) that Muhammed was a real profet and that Muslims have the truth. It was actually really interesting and he had a lot of good points. However. When he said that all prayers have to be in Arabic... Haha I was kinda like, "ok you believe Allah (God) is all powerfull, never ending, our creator, but... can only understand Arabic." However I´m a little more tactful so I just asked, "if you believe Christ was a profet, and that what he taught was the truth. Why don´t you believe he was the son of God?" Of course the answer went straight to Muhammed and how he is the most true profet and everything. Basically it was very interesting and it all makes sense, but at the same time all you can think of is how do over one billion people believe this too.

So that was super fun and I now have a Koran (or however you spell it) and that he has a Book of Mormon. I heard it says Nephi some where in the Koran so Kylan I´m specifically asking you to research that for me and let me know!

Now for our investigators! yeah! Yeimi (Jamie) is one of our investigator´s who is super evangelical and loves her church. However she loves everything we teach her and once she receives a testimony of the Book of Mormon she´ll be baptized as soon as possible. And again however, her pastor knows she´s received the lessons and now goes to her piso and picks her up for church, holds "Bible Study" classes at her house and calls her every day. Punk. We have a plan and we are executing it so we will see what happens.

Indari y familia. They said that the only reason they really came to church was for Elder Fausett and that Church bores them... So I kinda called them out and told them that we need to want to come to church for our selves and not because we have a crush on the missionaries. We´ll see what happens with them. They said they´ll keep reading and talking to us so that´s a big step!

That sums up all of the excited parts of this week. Except that I hit six months on Tuesday!!!! Weird... I love it out here and it´s crazy to think that I´m only a quarter of the way done! Time flies when you´re having fun, and working!

Love you all and thank you for all of the love and support! If you have to send me packages hold back a little on the candy. I need to fit into my baptismal pants this weekend and I keep getting bigger and bigger. So help me help myself!

Love,
Elder Hawks
