December 20, 2014

Hola familia!

So good thing you asked if I´ve been to any castles or anything cool like that this week! Today we went to Segovia. Elder Fausett, Alejandro Lau, Hermana Maria Lau, and me! The Lau´s drove us up there and we spent the day looking at the aquaduct, cathedral, and castle! Basically today I filled my childhood dream of being a knight.

We drove up there through the mountains so we finally saw SNOW! Thank goodness. I was starting to go crazy. It´s really cold here but there is now snow in actual Villalba and it just doesn´t feel like winter without snow.

Segovia´s really popular for tourism though and everything we saw was really old and really cool. The aquaduct there is huge. Like 50 feet tall or maybe even taller, and the coolest part is that it´s just rock against rock. There´s no cement or anything holding it together besides the rocks and it´s been there since like B.C. times. The next thing we saw was the cathedral. That was super cool on the outside and super depressing on the inside. Even if I was Catholic I wouldn´t like all of the ways they depict Christ. He looks super depressed all the time. Jesus smiles people he wasn´t always bloody and dying. HE LIVES! Haha sorry I was a little bugged cause they charged us three euros so three of my euros went to the ´´Great and Abominable Church´´ so I wasn´t in the greatest mood when I walked in. Anyways after that we went to a castle and I happily paid five euros to go see knights, armor, towers, a moat that´s like 50 feet deep and a thrown room. Haha yeah today was really fun to say the least.

OK now to answer some of your other questions. We do our own laundry at home, we have a washer but everything has to air dry and we buy all of our food at a little grocery store right below our piso. Sorry I want to be quick with this so I can talk about Manulo.

Manulo. Basically he doesn´t want anything to do with our church but if we want to talk about aliens, guns, cars, history or basically anything NOT related to the gospel we can go over when ever we want. So being the good missionaries we are we sneak in a prayer, and a little lesson every time we go over. It´s kinda funny cause I told him that my dad was born in Germany and now he always talks about the German´s like they´re my people.... Haha good experience.

We´re still looking for more investigators and we hope to find some so keep praying for us! Thank you for everything you´ve done and continue to do! Os quiero y no allí un otro país que me gustaría servir. ¡Vive españa!

Love,
Elder Hawks
