February 10, 2014

Familia,

Sounds like I´m missing quite a bit this year! Good to hear that Grandma and Grandpa are settled and doing really well. With moving two houses, a marriage, and two new NEPHEWS sounds like everyone, every where is going to be super busy... Ha-ha helps me not feel home sick. :)

Well this week was another week in Villalba. I got my guitar and have been playing it all of the free minutes I have. Funny how when you do something every day you get a lot better at it. I´m going to pull a typical missionary move and relate this to the scriptures. :) When we read every day and apply what we learn every day we get better and remember better as well. I read a lot before the mission but not as much as I do now. I can feel the spirit telling me what I should be doing and what I shouldn't. One of the many benefits of being a scripture nerd.

This next week is going to be strange because we have transfers this next Monday and we both think that we´re going to be ¨white-washed¨ and leave Villalba. Ha-ha and all of the members, investigators and other elders know it sooooo. It´s going to be a little strange but we´re both super excited about the investigators we do have.

Indari and her family are still awesome, we haven´t been able to meet with them but they came to church and she said they´re reading. We´re visiting them tonight and I think we´re going to tell them about baptism and have them pick a date as a family that they would like to get baptized. They are the main reason I´d want another transfer here. The ward is really helpful and there are some really good people that I don´t want to leave right now. However Elder Fausett and I both have a lot of time here so we´re a little worried.

We´re still teaching Ibis and Gerardo (Miriam´s friends) we pushed their baptismal date back because Ibis said that Gerardo isn't really ready so we were a little bummed about that but it´s better that they both wait and do it together than one do it and the others don´t. Then we´re teaching this awesome lady from the Dominican Republic and she´d received the lessons before and was just waiting to have somebody invite her to be baptized! So her and her daughter are going to be baptized the first of March. The problem is that she has a boyfriend and so we´re working with her on that. Hopefully she´ll be able to progress and be able to be baptized that day with her daughter. Her daughter is super ready and loves everything about the church and is just awesome. Her daughter´s 9 and also loves learning and English.

Ok that about sums up this week. It´s fun, stressful, difficult, hectic, but pleasing beyond anything else! I love being a missionary. Some times it sucks super bad but the good times are all ten times better than all of the bad times put together! ¡Os amo y hasta esté semana que viene!

Love,
Elder Hawks
